Butterfly
Butterfly is a chair inspired by the shape of a butterfly. The curved lines of the wings were extracted and developed into the form of the seat, the backrest and the legs. The backrest and the seat surface are divided into two parts, following the movement of the wings. The chair is made of high-speed steel and is shaped as a single piece by 3D printing, which gives good strength and a metallic luster. The structure is stable, and the shape and the structure are well integrated. The chair can be used for rest, reading and decoration.
Butterfly Chair by Wei Jingye / 魏靖野 was highlighted as a creative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Butterfly Chair won the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2021. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that recognizes exceptional design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
