Unvisible Landscapes
Unvisible Landscapes is a series of lamps based on three dimensional fractals. The forms recall urban landscapes and are generated in fractal modelling software. Displacement maps are applied to the surfaces in three dimensional modelling software, and the resulting shapes are printed with PLA filament. Each printed object is fitted with LED strips and a power supply, so the fractal is presented in the form of light. The series makes mathematical structures visible in physical space and brings them into the field of art and design.
Unvisible Landscapes Lamp by Andreas Guskos has been highlighted as an innovative example of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Unvisible Landscapes Lamp won the Bronze A' Design Award in Lighting Products and Fixtures Design in 2020. The A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition that rewards excellent design of chandeliers, pendant lights, wall sconces, table lamps, floor lamps, outdoor lights, recessed lights, track lights and more.
